What are some tips to manage and understand NASH

Trying to find my way through being recently diagnosed with NASH and sorting through all of the information including name changes.

  1. Hi Julie, last week I learned my crazy symptoms is MASH- end stage. I’ve spent last few days trying to wrap my head around this. It started October with E R visit for dizziness and heart rate of 39. Long story short I now have multiple heart arrhythmias. Even after ablation Jan 3 ! To boot I’m now anemic, lethargic all day, itching skin all over . Taking lactulose to help cleanse liver I’m so taken back. Now trying to figure out how to tell my 40 something two kids I’m wanting to be hopeful but can’t get there. I have lost 16 lbs on monjaro in 7 weeks. But that joy has gone because now I’m hearing my cirrhosis is gone too far. Overwhelmed

  2. I just received the results of my fibroscan yesterday afternoon. My liver has scarring, but no cirrhosis yet. Apparently I qualify for medication, now to wait until my insurance decides if it’s covered.
    Good news is I’m down 31 lbs. so I’ll stick to my diet even though my husband doesn’t understand why, and I’m tired of explaining it to him. My coworkers and students understand it better than him. But I need to do what I need to do for myself.

    1. being down 31 pounds is a big accomplishment that I know required a lot of hard work and discipline! I hope things work out with your insurance company.     2. thank you Julia! It’s been hard working staying away from foods that I used to eat. I’m going to do my best not to backslide over the holidays. It was pretty easy dealing with Thanksgiving, now I’m Christmas and New Year’s!

I also experienced pain and nausea, and it was so difficult for me to eat much. I am sure you can relate. I love this community as it brings us together and like someone understands and gets us.
