Started as an Itch

Itching progressed from the legs to the underarms to the abdomen. I went to my PCP, and they said to see a dermatologist. I saw a dermatologist and they gave me medication for itching. The itching continued so I went to the ER. They ran tests and said it was my gallbladder. During the gallbladder test, the tech saw something in my liver. Liver studies were done. I have cirrhosis, stage 1. I will see a liver specialist in a month. I am fatigued and weak. Having reverse shoulder replacement in one week. Pray for me.

  1. YEs I am saying a prayer for you too. I've been somewhat sickish for 1.5 yrs. now. Drs. were useless. I've been researching for all that time.. Long ago I went to a liver specialist a few x's... I even had some scan.. Long ago (15? yrs. ago). but I guess that ended ok.. Also yrs. ago my tall slender bro. died from non alcoholic liver disease.. sigh, He was a world known self taught gun smith and did guns from all over the world... I worked for the medical world, but was preventive health.. Immunizations.. Now for over a yr. I google all the time with my symptoms.. drs. offices were worthless to me.. I do not pursue seeking to see them....... so... it is what it is... I can't get my housework hardly done any more. I go nowhere n have not driven for a long time. .. I'm fortunate to have made it to age 76 in July, if I do..My bro. was only 60 when he passed away... sigh... We will see how things go.. as said about 1-2 yrs. ago at family dr. office they asked if I was itchy (no) not then... and I only get itchy occasionally now.. sigh... I worked for the medical world, I sincerely wish drs. were more open when we see them... I'm hoping my new found tan (from no sun) and my itchyness and nothing and this will go away as I age more (I'm 76 in July) my bro. was only 60 when he died.... God Bless us ALL, everyone of us human beings.. esp. the ones that strive to live a good life, and try to help others... Amen....

  2. Thank you for reaching out to this community. Itching is a very common side effect to liver disease. Personally, it drove me bonkers. I ended up using coconut oil that I get from the grocery store in baking isle. I get the "refined" type as that way no "chunks of coconut is spread on my skin. I am so happy to hear you are going to your liver specialist here shortly. I am no doctor but a patient just like you. Words of wisdom, before you go, write down any and all questions you have so you may get these questions answered at this visit. Sending my prayers and healing on your shoulder. Thinking of you.
