8 Symptoms Caused By NASH

I was diagnosed with NASH in December 2022, but before I was given my diagnosis, I had many painful and persistent symptoms. Some symptoms have been worse than others. I have written a list of all the symptoms that I have suffered with in the past caused by NASH and some that I do still suffer from.

Since beginning of my healing journey getting my liver back to good health, some of my symptoms have gotten better and some have gone away completely. I am writing this article in hopes I can help you or someone you know who is struggling with NASH.

One thing I will ask from you as the reader of this article is that you please try to remember I am not a medical professional, and I am not trying to diagnose you. All I want to do is spread awareness by sharing my experience of living with NASH, with you. If you are worried that you might have NASH or NAFLD please get in contact with your doctor and ask for a liver function test.

Here is a list of my symptoms

  1. Fatigue
  2. Abdominal pain
  3. Leg pain
  4. Nausea
  5. Sickness
  6. Itching
  7. Easily bruised
  8. Behavior changes, confusion, and slurred speech

The fatigue was one of the worst

Unfortunately, all those symptoms listed above are caused by NASH and I have suffered from all of them. I was feeling exhausted, feeling a constant dull and painful ache in my abdomen. Personally, for me fatigue was one of my worst symptoms. There would be times when my body was so exhausted from just trying to survive, that I found myself having to plan out and incorporate naps into my day-to-day life for me to be still able to get things done. Even small tasks like washing up or vacuuming would tire me out faster than usual.

The pain was bad

My abdominal pain was always on my right-hand side, underneath my ribcage area, and a dull ache in the bottom of my back also on the right-hand side. It felt like I had been hit by a high-speed football and all my ribs were bruised. I was always feeling nauseous, and I was often sick after meals. Sometimes my exhaustion would cause me to vomit. Keep in mind my exhaustion was not from anything strenuous, just from daily tasks. That is how intense the fatigue was, I always woke up tired and needing more sleep.

The itching was uncontrollable

When it comes to the itching it felt awful at times, uncontrollable. The itchiness was usually on my legs, specifically on my lower half. The bruising would happen a lot, but it still happens now after managing to get my liver back to normal. I usually get the bruising from all the itching I would be doing, but even things like kneeling on my yoga mat would cause my knees and calves to be all bruised.

I hope that this article can help you somehow, and if you are struggling with some of these symptoms then please go and seek medical advice.
