Have you had a liver biopsy?

Have you had a liver biopsy? Was it uncomfortable, painful, or both? Was it not so bad?

  1. If you are having a biopsy the odds are pretty good that you are atleast close to needing a transplant. I've had mri ct and a fibro scans. Then came the biopsy. Waiting on results but I do have an idea what's coming

    1. I have had fibroscans and MRI as well as CT scans but not a biopsy
My Mayo hepatologist prefers these tests over biopsy

      1. Hello, Thank you for sharing with us. It is always helpful to hear from patients just like you who are facing the same scenarios. It appears you are in good hands with what your doctor feels is best for your care. I am no physician and always recommend each patient speak with their doctor about what is needed in their own particular care. All those imaging you mentions are good indicators for your liver status. Keep plugged into your appointments with your hepatologist.

    2. My liver biopsy was not bad with just some discomfort. It was quick. Staying in recovery for an hour took longer than the procedure.

    3. It was not bad at all. Really no pain. I just could not go swimming for a week.

      1. Thank you for sharing your experience. It truly helps those going through similar situations. I personally have seen the process change from 2005 to 2024. It is much easier like you mentioned.
