Diagnosed in 2009, she provides guidance on lifestyle, nutrition, mental health, and navigating medical care while helping reduce stigma around liver disease. Married to her husband Toby for 35 years, Melaine is a proud mother of two adult sons and their spouses, a grandmother, and a caregiver to several fur and feathered family members. She spent 20 years working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where she developed her passion for advocacy and empathy.
